The slate was sound but the fixings had gone, which is the usual story on a roof of this age near the coast. Stripped, sorted and relaid on new battens and membrane, with fresh lead formed around the stack and down the abutment.
The work was carried out to the current Building Regulations and inspected by the local authority Building Control, who signed it off on completion.
