Fascias, soffits and guttering

We do not just look after the roof. The boards and gutters at the edge of it are what stop rainwater running down the wall, and when they rot or split the damage moves inside. The first sign is usually a green stain down the brickwork.

Whether you need one gutter replaced or the whole fascia, soffit and guttering system renewed, we take care of it from start to finish. No job is too big or too small.

What we replace

Guttering and downpipes

Old, damaged or badly fitted guttering leads to overflowing rainwater, staining and water sitting where it should not. We take the existing system off and fit new UPVC in the profile and colour you want, hung to the correct fall so it drains rather than sits, with new downpipes and fittings. Cast iron is replaced or repaired where the property calls for it.

Deep flow guttering

A deeper profile with more capacity, for a roof with a large catchment or a slope that overwhelms a standard half round gutter in heavy rain. We will tell you at survey whether your roof actually needs it.

Fascia boards

The board the gutter hangs off. We take the old timber right off rather than capping over it, because capping hides rot instead of removing it, and it keeps rotting behind the plastic where you cannot see it. New boards go on in low maintenance UPVC.

Soffits

The underside of the overhang, in ventilated UPVC so the roof space still breathes. Blocked ventilation causes condensation in the loft.

Bargeboards and cladding

The gable edge boards, replaced to match the fascia so the whole edge of the roof looks like one job.

How we do it

1. Strip the old timber off. Every time. Capping over rotten fascia is quick, cheap and stores up a much bigger problem.
2. Check the rafter feet. With the fascia off we can see whether the ends of the rafters have gone. If they have, they get repaired before the new board goes on.
3. Fit and set the falls. New boards fixed, gutters hung to fall to the outlet, brackets at proper centres so they do not sag.
4. Test with water. We run water through before we call it done.
